Shedding the Republican wool

I am amazed at the reaction of so-called conservatives after Glenn Beck states that John McCain would have been worse than Obama. The fact that people are having such a harsh reaction to it confirms Mr.Becks point. Mr. McCain would be granted a pass such as the one he is receiving now because of his republican label. The shedding of the republican party is a hard wool for many people to shed. So-called conservative blogs tout defending the Constitution yet when a reader leaves a comment that questions republicans, they remove the comment. Censorship is hypocrisy. http://hotair.com/archives/2009/09/23/defending-the-honor-of-president-mccain/ This article lists all the things that Mr.McCain would not have done as president. I am still waiting for Mr.McCain to express his outrage at the administration for conducting a witch hunt on the CIA, Appointing Communist czars, Apologizing for America around the world, taking over the banks and auto companies. He is not criticizing the policies of the administration. His silence tells the story and not just for Mr.McCain but all republicans. This is not the time for fence sitting. History will judge the lackluster republicans that did nothing to defend our Constitution and whom will deny blame while freedom fades away.

  4. It is true, McCain is to be honored for his service, however, he is for World Order, amnisty, share the wealth, and is more left than right. When two Democrats run for the same office, we are no longer a two party system. The name "Republican", does not stick to him.

  5. I really like John McCain but in my heart I believe that all politicians stink and they are all making a mess of our USA. It seems in this world today that everything that is good and moral and of GOD is bad and everything evil is good, GOD help us all and yes He is real

HIS CZAR SYSTEM IS ENOUGH IN ITSELF TO TELL EVERYONE HE DOES NOT LOVE THIS COUNTRY. I AM AN OLD MAN...BUT I AM PROUD TO SAY I SERVED MY COUNTRY IN WW11 AND THERE WERE TIMES WHEN WE KNEW WITHOUT THE HELP OF GOD WE WOULD NOT BE BACK HOME. GET MOST ALL THE CONGRESSMAN OUT AS QUICK AS POSSIBLE.

  8. John McCain is a true Patriot and is as American as apple pie; he unfortunately is a Democrat in GOP clothing. Come November 2010 it will be the time for all true Americans to rid the stench of the Democratic Party in Washington.

  9. Oh, this is really sad, showing a three-year-old video where the only thing you can get on McCain is he said the people in the room are special. This is why Beck and you and Rush go too far. You don't have to smear the man to make your point, but you still choose to. This all goes back to when Rush said it would be better to just let the Dems win. Personally, I'd much rather have had a veto pen run out of ink by now mitigating Pelosi and Reid, and not having to deal with Wright, Ayers, Jones, Sunstein, and Michelle. I guess that priming it up for Sarah wasn't worth it either. {Sigh}

  10. Obama is taking us quickly down the road of destruction. I believe that John McCain is a progressive and that is why we the people have no real choices anymore. When a person aligns themselves with either party they surcume to the corruption that is Washington.

  11. The only thing I liked about McCain was that he chose Sarah Palin as his VP, which was totally out of character for a RINO like him. Sarah is a Libertarian style Republican and makes more sense than Obama and McCain put together.

  12. I agree that McCain would have been a horrible president and that he shares similar views with President Obama; however, would the masses and the media have united behind John McCain to push this radical agenda as they have for Obama? I do not believe so and as a Conservative I would be just as outraged and vocal if John McCain pushed a socialist agenda.

I think that Obama is worse because he is able to use the media and unthinking masses of our country against reason and rational thinking to push his agenda and I do not believe that John McCain would have had the same ability. I know right now Obama is not ramming through his policies as quickly as he would have liked but I think McCain would have had a much tougher time than even Obama. Glenn Beck seems to be discounting this idea.

  14. McCain would have been better than Obama, but having Obama in the saddle is excellent shock therapy, living proof of how bnad the left is for America. It should help us to clean out the Congress next year.

At least with Mccain we had a fighting chance.

  19. I like and respect John McCain but he would have been a largely ineffective president in a liberal majority. Also we now have Obama to thank for shocking mainstream Americans into waking up to defend their freedom. Our power is still in the voting booth! The most Frustrating aspect of all of this is for Glen Beck / Rush and others to not only make us aware of all the problems but TELL PEOPLE WHAT THE CAN DO. What more can we do?

Actually I think we need a REVOLUTION.

  21. McCain's job was to throw the election to obama. He was all smiles in front of the America hating acorn group yet he is angry when confronted by Conservatives. By picking Palin as V.P he thought we would be stupid enough to vote for him. Everybody knows the V.P has almost no power and fortunately conservatives know this. As far as I'm concerned he has ridden his war record into the ground. It's time for McCain to find a new line of work. PALIN FOR PRESIDENT.

  24. McCain would have had a tough time with a Congress full of Democrats, but at least he would have had that veto pen. I disagreed with him on several issues, but I still thing he would have been better than Obama. I feel certain he would not have taken a socialist path.

I find it hard to believe anyone would have been a worse President than this one, who seems hell bent on destroying this nation, and all we have stood for and fought for. Desert our friends, kiss up to our enemies, attack our CIA and all who defend us, and yes, lie..after lie...after lie. Wake up, American. Our freedom(s) are being stolen. 28. Listen up people... Anyone that stands with Acorn is the enemy. Anyone that, for the sake of their own selfish interests stands with socialistic ideals is a cancer to this country. Sure one would think McCain is a patriot, but the truth is that the worse thing to happen to a person in government is in fact "government" and he is a sad casualty regardless of how much one might respect him for his service to this country. Besides...he is OUT! And in a few short years this new embarrassment and traitor will be down the road too. America... we must find a new candidate to run in 2012, one that hasn't cheated on their wife and one that has had an honorable military history. START LOOKING!!!! Hopefully it is someone that we don’t know, unless it is Glenn Beck himself. Hukabee is too nice to kick as much ass as we need in 2012 and Palin is too hated. We need to find a new Ronald Reagan. Someone to take us into recovery and back to strength again.

But, he lost me completely after he told a group of his campaign's supporters who were expressing fears about Obama's socialist agenda, they did not have to "be afraid to vote for his opponent". Then, I found out his Reform Foundation has taken money from George Soros and the Tides Foundation both of which are extreme left wing donor. Honestly, his campaign was so pathetic I was starting wonder if he was being paid to lose!!

  35. My husband, a career Marine, spent 2 tours in Viet Nam. The POW and MIA issue has always been close to my heart. The reports of POW sightings by escaped S Vietnamese prisoners & European visitors, the aerial photos of US flight designations trampled in N Vietnamese fields and other credible clues have tormented the families of the missing for years. A senate Select Com was set up in the late 1980s, John Kerry & John McCain were the "military experts". Despite the evidence, the committee denied the existence of any POWS. When begged by the families for reasons why the evidence had been discounted, McCain became abusive and profane with the families. Do a search on the sightings, the Senate Select Com findings and McCain's cruel actions toward the grieving families. I respect our military heroes & honor the stalwart service of our POWs, but I would never vote for John McCain!

I spent ten (10) months and six (6) days in Vietnam fighting for our great country. We can disagree on the reason our troops are in a combat zone. Don't forget, they are fighting for our freedom. Anytime we meet a veteran don't forgrt to thank them for their service to the U.S.A. We live in the greatist country in the world, but our country has serious problems, but they can be changed if the right people will get together and form a think tank. Problems confront us to be resolved.

  39. It seems that every election season I would get excited about McCain and early on strongly support him. Then after mis-steps and strangely off-center comments I would begin to lose faith in his ability to represent my views. It happened again in the last election and I found myself starting to wish that Giuliani would win because I craved someone who would represent me with strength. McCain just began looking more and more like a limp promise. I was reinvigorated when I heard Sarah Palin speak and sent off another $100 because I heard strength and conviction in her words.
While I strongly appreciate and feel gratious for McCain's valor and service, he has just not shown himself to have the strength of leadership this country needs.
That said, I still can't imagine him being worse than Obama (One Bad A*s Mistake America)!

  40. I am now seriously wondering if "arguing with idiots" really had a reverse effect on you! This video does nothing to support your comment of yesterday other than showing spliced bits and pieces of some gathering with several liberal groups and McCain saying something nice in what seems to be the same podium but with different people in the background. Sorry but I still think your comment was totally wrong.

  41. Imagine if McCain would have been elected. In the minds of the geniuses inside the beltway that event would have given carte blanche to him and his left-leaning bandit RINO's in the Republican party.

I can see amnesty coming by virtue of executive order with a McCain presidency, as he would owe the Hispanic grievance lobbies his life and limb had they turned out for him. At least with Obama we can to fight like heck against all of his nonsense and not divide the party.

And I'm not so sure that socialized medicine WOULDN'T have been pursued by McCain. You know how these neo-cons are - just let us fight our wars and we'll print money from now until hell freezes over to give you anything that will make you (or some of you) happy...

Anyway, after thinking long and hard, I agree with Glenn. A McCain election would have done nothing but usher in the demise of the Republican party as we know it. It's already on life support, but we have time to resuscitate it.

I am totally on board that McCain is not perfect, and suffers somewhat of the traditional corrupt 2 party system, but to say he would be worse (no less as bad as) Obama is ludicrous. We are facing the greatest crisis in our time of losing all of our liberties. Would McCain have grown government and spent too much?? Maybe. Would he have sought to completely overthrow our countries principles?? I think not. I think that McCain would not have been the perfect choice is not a reason to believe he would have been worse than the greatest inside threat this country has ever seen.

  59. When Glenn Beck first said that McCain would have been worse for the country than Obama I was appalled. Then Beck explained why he said that, and I agreed with him. In the short term McCain would have been far better. For all his faults at least John McCain loves his country; it's pretty clear that Obama does not. Michelle Obama said as much during the campaign..."for the first time in my adult life I am proud of my country."

The damage would have come from the fact that McCain is a Republican, at least in name. If he had been running as an Independent or a Democrat he would have been the clear choice, but as a Republican he would have killed the Conservative movement we now see taking place. Beck is right when he says that the TEA Parties would not be taking place and that McCain would have been given a pass for doing many of the same things that Obama is doing now. He likely wouldn't have been doing them as fast, but he would have been doing them. And most of us would have stood behind him because "the Democrats are much worse and we can't let them get the power even if it means amnesty for illegal ALIENS (when did they become immigrants? Immigrants come through the front door!), bailing out the banks and car companies, etc.... From a conservative point of view the only thing McCain had going for him was Sarah Palin. He is as much a Liberal Progressive as Hillary Clinton. The difference is that she admits it and is a Democrat. With her the Democrats would have taken the blame, and conservatives would have united to save our country as we are now. With McCain that would not have happened. I agree with Glenn Beck. Given the opportunity to do it over again, I would vote for Hillary Clinton. I can't stand her, but a cote for her would have been best for the country.

  61. I agree with Glenn on almost everything, but can't support the statement that John McCain would be worse that Obama. Mr. McCain had experiences that Obama never even thought about. He also had a military background...not a militant background. I would not have picked McCain as my first choice, but I do believe that he listens to his people, and would be willing to let a majority vote persuade him. I also don't believe that he would lower himself to calling Americans names like this administration is doing. I think he would not have done the kind of reckless spending that Obama has done, and that he would have worked to create jobs and helped small businness. But mainly, I know that he wouldn't have villianized the elderly and embrased the dictaters like Obama. Plus, I think having Sarah Palin as a running mate would have helped pulled him further over to the conservative values that I embrase!

  66. I love Glen Beck but I have to disagree with him about McCain. I don't think we would have children singing praises to him in school, I don't think he would hesitate to agree with the military in charge of Iran, I don't think he would have czars with very scarey pasts, I don't think he would try to get rid of secret ballads, I don't think he would try to take God off the US currency, or cover crosses. He may be leaning to the left some, but I think if the Americans didn't want something, he would do what they want and not just ignore them to push what he wants instead. So for those reasons, I don't agree with Glen Beck altho I do thank him for keeping Americans informed of what is going on in this country when the local media won't.

  68. Reality is that for far to long we have been playing the "lesser of two evils game" - McCain would have would have still taken this country down the same road towards bigger government.

Playing this game is Russian roulette, which you take the bullet eventually. Think about it, whenever one side or the other comes up with a bad idea what happens? Do they truly denounce the concept? Do they eventually meet them half way?

That is like having a debate over whether they should drop you through the gallows floor or pull rope up until your dangling above it.
The result is the same- dead.

So Glenn is correct... in name we have two different parties - but they are on the same team "Big Government" - the debate is not over whether to control your life - it is in which method.

  75. Since almost everyone who posted here has about the same views as I do, I have a solution. I voted Libertarian and have since 1991 when I was a staunch Republican. The Libertarian Party is the party of principle. They believe in healthy immigration, but NOT the lawlessness that is now going on. Small Govt., low taxes, good defense, freedom to pursue happiness. That's my party.

  76. As wonderful citizen Katie said at a townhall meeting"You have awakened a sleeping giant."
The sleeping giant would still be asleep under a McCain administration. The atrocities being committed in this present administration woke good citizens up, made them realize the danger. As Glenn showed with the frog, McCain would have been worse. We'd slowly get the same stuff done under McCain as with the present-as both are progressives-and we'd not realize it, as McCain is supposed to be conservative? Palin as VP wouldn't have had enough power to deter McCain and he knew it. The frog demo was brilliant. It took me awhile to put it in context. Glenn was right. We are all so blessed to have him to guide us. Thank you, Glenn, for all your hard work to wake us up.

  77. We all are grateful to Glenn, Bill, Sean, Rush, Michelle Malkin, Laura Ingraham, Greta Susteren, Ann Coulter, Mark Styn, Ben Stein, Newt Gingrich, Mark Levin, Judge Napolitano.
The answer lies with American citizens from now on to do their homework and clean out D.C.

  78. I WOULD LIKE TO SEE OBAMA IMPEACHED BECAUSE HE IS NOT UPHOLDING THE CONSTITUTION. OBAMA SHOULD BUY AN ISLAND AND TAKE ALL HIS FOLLOWERS WITH HIM AND HE WILL HAVE HIS VERY OWN COMMUNIST COUNTRY. WE NEED OUR AMERICA BACK!

  79. THANK YOU GLENN BECK FOR 'TELLING THE TRUTH WITH FACTS' TO BACK YOU UP.......YES MCCAIN WAS A HERO ....FOR YEARS NOW, HE HAS BEEN AND STILL IS A BENEDICT ARNOLD (TRAITOR TO AMERICA, LIAR TO THE PUBLIC ABOUT UPHOLDING THE AMERICAN CONSTITUTION) - IN MY CIRCLE OF FRIENDS, I DO NOT KNOW ANYONE WHO RESPECTS OR VOTED FOR MCCAIN (WE LOVED PALIN)...BENEDICT ARNOLD IS HOW WE DESCRIBE THIS MAN....ALAN KEYES, RON PAUL REPRESENT AMERICA, THEY LOVE AMERICA (MCCAIN DOES NOT) AND THEY FOLLOW THE CONSTITUTION. 80. I agree with Glenn. The uprising would not have happened with John McCain in the White House. We would all still be sitting on our couches wondering who is going to get us out of a different mess. At least with Obama he has shoved so much down our throats at once it is clear as day the corruption that is usurping our freedom and liberties. We must continue to fight for the America we all want and love and look beyond the "D" or "R" after a name and look at the person, the policy and their past. For the best predictor of future actions is what/how they've spoke or voted in the past. With so many good American's losing their jobs and houses we must fight for the economical reforms we need NOW, and not the big gov't spending of so-called healthcare reform. Until they include open market competition and tort reform it isn't reform, it is simply scratching the backs of big corporations and trial lawyers. We must begin to scrutinize our leaders, voting by person not by party and then we will get the America that we all so desperately want. Don't be afraid to take a stand, speak out and encourage your neighbors to vote in 2010. May God Bless Us All.

  81. Thank you especially for the comments of our "lackluster Republicans". I am so tired of people who know darn well our Republican candidates don't stand for conservetive values having to vote independent, splittin gour power and giving the Democrats room and control.

I am more mad at Republicans than Democrats.....wake up and OPPOSE the Democratic party!

  82. I understand Mr Beck's hot water concept and his theory that faster would be better....and I don't know, it might be. And at times I have surprised myself by moaning, "Oh, where is Hillary?" But the problem I had was that he indicated he thought MrCain was MORE Progressive than Hillary. Between those two I would definitely go for McCain.

  83. I disagree with Glen Beck, even though I never miss his programs and agree on most every thing, John Mccain would be better. I never like John McCain but the two together, John wins out. I voted for him but Mitt Romney was my man so wake up American, get the crooks out of Washington before this Country is lost. God Bless American

  84. I think Glenn Beck has opened the eyes
of America but some are still blind.
South Chicago politics and a slightly left
GOP candidate were all America had to offer in 2008? Sad! Americans are poor judges of
character when it comes to their politicians.
America do your homework! I want a "good"
person in the WH, one who cares. Maybe Mitt or
    Glenn! How about that!

  85. I do not even believe Obama is an American citizen nor do I believe he even knows what this country is. He must not know about our Constitution or Bill of Rights. How come we don't know about him? Who is behind him - he has to be someone's puppet. Who is it?

  86. Hello folks,
I was shocked when i heard Glenn Beck say that Obama or Hillary Clinton would make a better president than John McCain. I then decided into checking why Glenn made those statements and i am amazed and disappointed in John McCain. I respect his military record and i am sorry that he had to suffer as a POW...but in all of my life I never would i have known that McCain was a progressive like the democrats. Politics is a game and the common people are shut out as they live in their protected bubble in Washington. They are so out of touch with the people that when the people rise up and question and demand to be heard...they automatically feel threatened, both parties are guilty of that. I feel betrayed by John McCain and his progressive policies...i rejoiced in Sarah Palin. Thank God for her. Also i would like to mention that Hillary Clinton was mentored by Saul Alinsky, the neo-fascist and author of "Rules for Radicals", the progressives/socialists bible. He mentored her during her learning years. I don't trust her either as she and her husband have been responsible for some not so good things in their political walk. I don't agree with Beck on that one...that he would have voted for Hillary. To tell you the truth, except for Sarah Palin the other 3 can go and jump off a pier. I hope Sarah Palin will rise up and be our President one day.

Personally, it would not of mattered who our President would of been. They are all PUPPETS!!!! We know who is behind the agenda. and Bill O...... watch out GLENN BECK IS ON THE RAISE !!!!!! 90. My plain is.............If they are in, vote them OUT!!! They are all crooked, as a dog's hind leg. Rep. and Dem. a like. As for Glenn's comment, about McCain being worse than Obama, I have to vote NO on this issue. Even with all the negative thing that has been said about McCain on this site, (much that I agree with) I do believe, that McCain loves the country he fought for in the Vietnam Conflict. I believe he would put saving our country from harm, first and foremost. Then, try to save the little menows in northern California, and do some thing about pig poop in Ohio. On the other hand, every thing Obama, has done has been bassacwards or just plain wrong. I think Obama, simply hates America.
